Wendell Phillips Wendell Phillips Wendell Phillips was an American emancipationist leader and political reformer, who helped the antislavery cause in the beginning the well-mannered War. He was born on November 29, 1811, in Boston, and went to condition at Harvard University and Harvard Law School. In 1837 he reached intelligence as one of the most forceful antislavery speakers. When he was at a public meeting in Faneuil Hall, in Boston, he delivered a speech about a proslavery mob that had killed an abolitionist editor.
